The website

Crazy Banana was launched in September 2008 as an ailternative to the excellent but very Bulgarian-centric websites focusing on community trading. The idea was to create a site where expats living in this country could buy, sell, swap and mingle with other people (here and abroad) willing to communicate in English. Following advice from users, in December 2008 we also added latest news, a useful services directory and a section for members to ask questions about Bulgaria and life within its borders.

Who's behind it?

Crazy Banana was designed and is being developed by Iliana Veltcheva and Irena Voynova. Hosting and support are being provided by Eric Thern at Zoidial. The company behind the site (which bears the same name) was founded by Edward Fraser and Iliana Veltcheva (better known as Jiji) and resides in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Why "Crazy Banana"?

Ask Edward, he came up with it. The rest of us are not entirely sure but we got too fond of the Banana character to consider changing the name to one more descriptive of the site's purpose.
